Chiang Mai Wats
Chiang Mai is an absolute treasure trove for wats, old and new, but mostly old. Many are walkable, within the city walls but given the climate, a tuk-tuk or taxi makes more sense. Pictured here from top to bottom: Wat Phra Singh, Wat Doi Ku Kham, Wat Wiang Kum Kam, Wat Sri Suphan, Wat Thep Prapthanporn, Wat Mahawan, Wat Chai Mongkhon, Wat Umong, Wat Kuan Khama and Wat Ton Kwen.
On Thapae or Wualai weekend market days, the adjoining wats open their grounds for food stalls and general fare. This provides a welcome break from the increasingly warm and sticky traipsing up and down. Definitely no alcohol though!
