Wat Tonson, right in the middle of Ang Thong town on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, features a 19-metre-tall brass Buddha surrounded by a replica of the classic viharn phra phuttha chinnarat-styled flamed halo. The huge Buddha invites you to touch your forehead to its thumb while making a wish. There are a few helpful steps for you to reach the right height, along with a laminated prayer suggestion (if you can read Thai) to get you started. There is also an Ayutthaya styled Buddha in the ordination hall surrounded by colourful murals which tell Buddhist stories – each one a spectacular tale judging by the content of the rectangular illustrations. If you have health issues then it is recommended that you pray for a cure in front to the heart-shaped effigies.
