Wat nong Yai, Pattaya
This wat is across Sukhumvit highway from Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, right next to the tourist spot, Mini Siam. Apparently, it dates from the Ayutthaya period but fell into disrepair after Ayutthaya was sacked. Its restoration took place over time, giving it a contemporary look. It has an ‘off the beaten track’ feel to it despite its central location and the fact that it was a Sunday when I visited.
After returning to Chonburi, the abbot Chao Khan Yai, restored the abandoned temple and brought back the original bell to install in the bell-tower.
