Museum of 80 Buddha Postures, Bangkok
Located on the second floor at Wat Krathum Suea Pla, there are 80 buddha statues, each portraying famous postures (and some rare ones). Each posture has significance, for example, sitting for meditation, standing for compassionate action, reclining for final peace and walking for active grace. As well as the postures, the hand gestures (mudras) are also symbolic, including one for each day of the week with extra significance for the day on which you were born. For me it was a Friday and that means hands crossed on the chest (‘the Contemplation’ or Pang Ram Phueng) representing deep thought, evaluation and quiet determination.
