The Formula One event in Singapore is usually held over the last weekend in September. It is a night-time event on a street circuit. I read somewhere that 20,000 lights are installed for the weekend. The circuit encloses various performance areas for top bands and acts, who play before the on-track action. People fly in for the weekend from all over, which creates a huge buzz along the quays and throughout the city. One for your calendar once it gets going again.
The old V6 engines used to be ear-splitting, making sitting in the stands a perilous option. Nowadays it is more manageable. You also get a birds-eye view by sitting on the main field where several large screens with running commentary keep you up to date.
Close up you get an idea of the speeds and G-forces at play as the drivers tackle the bends and curves. It is mind-boggling to think about the skill-set required.
