Cosplay in Japan
Although 'costume play' dates back many years, it started to become a thing in the 1990s. Nowadays you hardly bat an eyelid when walking around Tokyo. Slight exaggeration, but it is easy to find and indeed, remains a strong pull for your camera. Pictures here are from the Manga Museum in Kyoto, outside Tokyo Dome and Makuhari Seaside Park. Cosplayers just love striking a pose and go into auto mode as soon as you lift your device; after all, it is what they set out to do when they left the house that morning!
The Manga Museum in Kyoto is worth a visit for the contents,
but also for the players who gather in the gardens at weekends.
