Wat Sangkat Rattana Khiri

Uthai Thani Province

Sakae Krang Hill overlooks Uthai Thani offering splendid views, particularly at sunset. You can tackle the 449 steps to the top or drive up via a back road if you don’t fancy being soaked through before you’ve really started your day. The wat itself contains one of the province’s most sacred Buddha images along with a replica of the Buddha’s footprint. The large bell was installed in 1900 and it is said that those who didn’t ring the bell haven’t really visited Uthai Thani. I only read that after I got back. Needless to say, I didn’t ring the bell. Oh well, I’ll make do with my Schrödinger’s visit to Uthai Thani.
