Loei Ghost Festival
'Phi Ta Khon' is the name of the face-mask associated with the Ghost Festival in Loei.
The origin of the festival relates to a Buddhist prince who went on a long journey. All thought him to be dead, so when he returned, the celebrations were enough to wake the dead. Hence the festival, which is held in summer.
