Mount Takao
Just a 50 minute train ride from Shinjuku Station, Takao-san offers a variety of hiking trails and views back towards the city. There is also a cable-car option if you don't feel like the walk. A bonus is the distant view of Fuji-san from the observation deck. Watch-point: public holidays will see the trails packed, and an hour-long wait for the cable car.
