Beijing, China

A long weekend in Beijing for a conference saw the sign-up for Great Wall trip, completely outstrip all the other options. Two buses then. It didn't disappoint, and the day/time presented some interesting light to play with. Built at various times in the past, the best known sections were completed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The Great Wall is a World Heritage Site with the sections nearest to Beijing benefiting from more recent refurbishment.

Can the Great Wall be seen from the Moon? No, apparently, just an urban myth!

It is amazing how steep it is, but unsurprising in that it faithfully follows the natural contours.
