Wat Thepthidaram Worawihan was founded in 1836 by Rama III and completed in 1839 in honour of his eldest daughter, Princess Vilas. The ordination hall contains a small Buddha carved in white stone, known as the White Buddha. The distinctive gable is decorated in Chinese porcelain. During the Rattanakosin era the wat was the residence of the royal poet, Sunthorn Phu; there is a museum on site dedicated to his works. Visible from the wat's grounds are both Wat Loha Prasat and Wat Saket (Golden Mount).
