The wat was renovated and open to the public in 2019. Approaching from the south-west, the hilltop white Buddha can’t be seen until you are practically upon it, the hill being just 30 metres above the main road. The view from the top to the north and east is impressive though as it takes in the plain in the direction of Udon Thani. The steps up to the Buddha number 178, leading to spacious surrounds at the top. There is hall underneath for devotions, with gilded and emerald (looking) Buddha statues. It looks like further refurbishment of the site is in progress.
