Sitting on top of a hill four kilometres south-west of Nan, Wat Phra That Khao Noi was built in 1487. It has a 9-metre tall golden Buddha statue that commands views across the valley and was added in 1999 in honour of Rama IX. The hill is only 200m high but it is worth the short drive out of town for the views.
