Wat Phra That Chaiyaphum is also known as Wat Phra Maha That Chedi Siri Chaiyaphum. It lies on a hill one hour’s drive north of Chaiyaphum city and offers views back down across the plain. The architectural styles are suggestive of the late Ayutthaya period. The way up from the car park follows red prayer ribbons which lead to an ornately decorated temple just below the two chedis. The nested gold standing Buddhas between the chedis make for a strong and unique visual, but it has to be said that everywhere the décor is eye-catching. The whole site in fact is in immaculate condition and well worth the trip out.
