Wat Paknam Khaem Nu is a thirty minute drive south of Chanthaburi near the coast. The wat was built in 1946 but the original materials corroded due to the sea air. It was then decided to design a ceramic cladding of blue tiles. The detail led to a quite stunning finish as can be seen here. It is known as the Blue Wat - it sure is - and well worth the detour.
