Right in the town centre, with an unprepossessing entrance, it might be easy to walk straight past. The white stucco exterior is reminiscent of the White Temple in Chiang Rai, while the ornate interior depicting everyday life in Nan is outstanding. The original wat on this very compact site was built in 1857 but later abandoned before eventually being demolished. The new wat was constructed in 1984 and hosts Nan’s three-metre tall city pillar.
