Wat Devaraj Kunchon Worawiharn (pronounced Therawat Kunchon) was established in the 1300s during the Ayutthaya period. It was later renovated during the reigns of Rama III and Rama IV. The ubosot murals in blue depict heavenly scenes and, along with the ochre ceiling, make for a rich setting. Also on site is the Teak Museum where you can count tree-rings going back to the 1500s. Near to the temple is a fish market and an opportunity to make merit by buying and releasing fish into the Chao Phraya River. In fact, the murky river water by the pier is teeming with huge catfish. The roiling waters part now and again as the ferries approach the pier.
