Talat Noi is an old Thai-Chinese community on the edge of China Town in Bangkok. Originally settled by the Portuguese in 1786, it then attracted immigrants from China, Vietnam and Cambodia, before becoming a traditional Chinese quarter. Nowadays it consists of labyrinthine sois packed with old shophouses, street art and the occasional shrine. It is all very much lived-in by folks who, one guesses, must go back generations.
