Nippon Budokan is the martial arts centre located in Chiyoda, Tokyo. It was built for the Tokyo Olympics of 1964. Although the venue is primarily used for martial arts, it is also a popular music venue due to its acoustics. The Beatles famously performed there in 1966 - the concert was seen as sacrilege by some - but now it quite commonly features on tour schedules.
You can get tickets for the sumo wrestling from agencies, hence the seating high in the stand, but the nuances of the sport remain somewhat of a mystery at that distance. |
