The Saigon Central Post Office is directly opposite the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, although the cathedral is undergoing renovation at the moment (Nov ’23) and is shrouded in scaffolding. The post office was built between 1886-1891 in Gothic, Renaissance and French colonial styles. Wikipedia notes that it is now a tourist attraction – you can say that again - as bus upon bus arrives to disgorge its contents on what undoubtedly is stop three of the day’s five. Once inside, folks mill around pointing their phones hither and thither, but unsurprisingly it is also still a functioning post office, with telephone booths from times gone by and busy clerks at various windows dispensing post-officey services.
