Nara
|
Nara was the capital of Japan from 710-794, before being replaced by Kyoto. It is home to the world's largest wooden building, the Todai-ji temple, founded in 738. Nara has been designated a World Heritage Site due to the antiquity of its temples as well as old trading houses and ryokans. As you wander around you will be followed by deer which roam everywhere - you can feed them, but they are a bit mangy to be honest!
