Krabi started to become an alternative to Phuket in the 1990s. Folks headed towards
Railay Beach for the rock-climbing at the limestone cliffs. Ao Nang became the main beach with hut-like resorts springing up. Boat trips to the offshore islands were also popular, with many limestone formations scattered about the Andaman Sea. 'Four Islands' trips are still going strong. Now the area is well established as a tourist destination, with accommodation for all budgets. The photos below are all from ten year ago. |
