I flew into Nepal to attend a two-day conference, so didn't get much of a chance to explore. The hotel where I was staying was quite near the Bodhnath, pictured here. This holy Buddhist site exercises a strong pull, wherever you walk you seem to end up there. It possesses a calmness, ideal for sitting down and reflecting on one's circumstances. Much of this part of the city was damaged in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2015. Reconstruction and repairs continue to this day.

Pilgrims come from far and wide to visit the Bodhnath which is very much a focal point. Folks walk round and round, reciting prayers, or simply sit at the side reading their holy book. Whilst I was sitting there, a ceremony suddenly appeared, followed shortly afterwards by a protest.
