Inle Lake is a huge inland water feature, making it a unique setting. Ask anyone who has been there, and they will tell you that there is nowhere quite like it. It is a kind of water-world with four main communities living by the shore - and not even on the shore, as many of the structures sit atop stilts. Long-tail boats jet along all day; in fact, your ride to the hotel may well be one-hour's high-speed skimming across the surface. The temples at Indein are stand-out too. Of the 35 species of fish in the lake, 17 are endemic, as with much of the local fauna.
