Le Cong Kieu or ‘Antique St’ is exactly as promised on the label. The reviews quickly coalesce into a sub-label which goes like this: ‘Everything from 100 years old to 1,000 years old to fake’. And therein lies your cautionary note. Read that label three times. A stroll down either side of the street is worth the detour, and it probably isn’t far away from where you were going anyway, but I would guess that you would really want to know a bit about what you are looking at. Whether ceramics, wooden carvings, jade, brass Buddhas or jewelry, you are likely to be paying well over the going rate if you don’t actually know what the rate is. Unless of course, you just fancy the item for your living room back home, regardless - just don’t tell anyone what you paid for it!
